Walsingham Lodge residents get tech-savvy with Age UK

This year, we have worked with Barclays Digital Wings and Age UK to offer some training to those who are keen to learn some new IT skills. In July, our first tablet workshop at Walsingham Lodge took place and it was a great success.

Some residents brought along their own phones and the Age UK volunteers answered their questions and taught them some new skills such as adding contacts, using google maps and downloading apps. Other residents enjoyed learning how to use Ipads and were able to set themselves up for online shopping and listen to their favourite music on YouTube. One of our residents, Mrs Oliff, was surprised how easy it was to use an Iphone and she looks forward to showing off to her family what she learnt!

With a bit of team work and a few biscuits to keep everyone’s energy levels up, all the attendees learnt some key skills which will help them to stay independent and keep up with how quickly technology is changing. Crown Simmons would like to thank the Age UK volunteers who were an excellent help on the day.
