Following completion of due diligence, consultation with residents and formal regulatory consent, on Friday the 1st of August 2014, Crown Housing Association merge with Rosemary Simmons Memorial Housing Association.

The new organisation, which will be known as Crown Simmons Housing, will initially own and manage just under 800 homes, mainly in London and Surrey. It is expected that the partnership will offer enhanced services for residents, including a specialist team for older peoples’ housing, as well as the capacity to develop and acquire around 200 new homes. A Shadow Board has been appointed with Al Dankis, former Finance Director of the Guinness Partnership, being confirmed as chairman. Paul Yates, chief executive of Rosemary Simmons will be the chief executive of the merged association.

The Interim Chair of Rosemary Simmons, Jane Worsley, commented: “This is an exciting opportunity for both Rosemary Simmons and Crown to establish an association that will result in the development of more new homes and increased investment in services to residents.”

Christine Beaumont, the Chair of Crown, said: “Following the initial talks we are satisfied that the new organisation will be better placed to manage risk in the current operating environment and have the ability to have more impact than either housing association would operating alone.”
