Louis Crown Simmons Housing's new ApprenticeLast year we launched our new Apprenticeship scheme and Louis Nichols, our new Apprentice Operations Assistant is working with us to achieve a City & Guilds Certificate in Housing NVQ and the Chartered Institute of Housing Level 2 Certificate in Housing Practice over the next 18 months.

We spoke to Louis to find out more about his first few weeks with Crown Simmons!

How did you find out about the Apprenticeship and why did you apply?

My college, Esher College, sent an e-mail around with the job description, and it sounded interesting and well-paid! I wanted to kick-start my working career early.

How do you think this will help you later in life?

I have learned loads! I feel like I’m learning working and life skills more than I was in education. I’m getting good office skills and skills that can be used in lots of different roles.

Would you tell your friends to apply for an apprenticeship?

Yes – I already have!

Did you ever consider working in housing before?

I had never considered working in housing before, but now I will.
