The Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC) has recently announced that it has reconsidered its plans for the proposed sale of MOPAC properties across Greater London, including those properties which Crown Simmons manages on MOPAC’s behalf.
We are still waiting to hear from MOPAC precisely what its new plans will mean in practice for current residents living in the properties. What MOPAC has said however is that it now proposes to sell all properties to social housing operators at some point in the future, rather than on an open market basis. It has also said that it wishes to extend Crown Simmons’ current lease to manage your home and other properties, though we have yet to agree the terms of any possible extension with MOPAC. MOPAC has also asked Crown Simmons not to proceed with legal action to recover possession of the properties in question in line with the original timetable set by MOPAC for the current lease to come to an end (nb: where appropriate, however, Crown Simmons will still proceed with legal action for breach of tenancy, including rent arrears).
Crown Simmons is seeking urgent confirmation from MOPAC about its new proposals and what they mean for current residents. As soon as we have this information we will contact all residents living in Crown Simmons-managed MOPAC homes to update them.
If you are a resident in one of the properties that Crown Simmons Housing manages on behalf of MOPAC and would like to discuss this matter further please contact your Housing Officer Pippa Claydon, on 01372 461454 or email@example.com
